The evolutionary goal of humanity is to know the Creator – or rather, to discover our inner oneness with the Creator. For this, one requires a call to continuous, lifelong inner practice. Yogis term it aspiration, a divine force that keeps the universal door open for our ascending human consciousness. This force sustains our enduring, ardent interest in the inner life, enabling us to know ourselves through the practice of meditation. In essence, this persistent psychic aspiration differs profoundly from fleeting mental determination. We may be born with such aspiration or awaken to it at some point in our lives.
Merely being curious about the inner life, we may make efforts to receive this inner boon of aspiration. It arises from within. To hasten its emergence, we can engage in spiritual activities: associate with meditators, read yogic literature, practise concentration, pray, and serve unconditionally.
